Mainstay Santa Ana Concrete is the concrete business I opened in Santa Ana in 2017, after years of writing up concrete jobs on the sales side and then learning the trade on a crew. We're fully licensed and insured, and we're best known for driveways, patios and slabs. We take on 16 kinds of concrete work for homeowners and property owners. Concrete contractor services in Santa Ana, CA
Mainstay Santa Ana Concrete is a concrete contractor in Santa Ana offering 16 services for homes and commercial property, from flatwork like driveways, patios and walks to walls, foundations and lots. Price turns mostly on size, the old concrete coming out, the base and the finish. The schedule turns on any city steps and the cure, and I'll put your numbers in a written estimate.

Concrete driveway building
We dig out the old drive or bare ground, pack a firm base and pour a new concrete driveway sized for your cars, with joints cut where cracks should go.

Concrete patio construction
A concrete patio gives you an even, lasting spot for a table and chairs out back, poured with a slight fall away from the house so rain doesn't pool.

Stamped concrete services
If plain gray isn't what you want, stamped concrete is colored and pressed with a pattern while it's fresh, so a patio or walk can look like stone, brick or tile.

Concrete sidewalk building
We build concrete walks from the street or driveway to your door, with a broom finish brushed into the top so shoes grip when it's wet.

Garage floor concrete
When a garage floor is cracked, sunken or pitted from years of cars and oil, we break it out and pour a new slab that sits even and sweeps clean.

Decorative concrete
Decorative concrete means color, exposed stone, scored lines and other finishes, for homeowners and businesses who want a slab that suits the look of the building around it.

Concrete retaining walls
If a slope is washing into your yard or you want more level ground, we build concrete retaining walls on footings, with drainage behind, to hold the soil back.

Concrete floor installation
We pour interior concrete floors for shops, workrooms, additions and commercial spaces, leveled and finished smooth so they're ready for sealing, coating or the flooring going on top.

Concrete pool decks
A pool deck takes bare feet, splashing water and pool chemicals, so we pour yours with a textured top that grips and a slope that carries water to drains.

Concrete steps construction
Crumbling or uneven front steps are easy to trip on, so we form and pour new concrete steps with even heights and a finish that grips underfoot.

Slab foundation building
We build slab foundations for additions, garages, backyard units and commercial buildings, setting the forms and the rebar steel that holds the slab together exactly as the plans call for.

Foundation installation
For new homes, additions and commercial buildings, we install the concrete foundation the engineer's plans lay out, in step with the city's reviews and inspections.

Concrete parking lot building
Property owners, businesses and apartment buildings come to us for concrete parking lots, graded so water runs to the drains and poured thick enough for the traffic they'll carry.

Concrete footings
Footings are the buried concrete pads and strips that carry a wall, deck, post or addition, and we dig and pour them to the depth and size the plans set.

Foundation raising
When part of a slab or foundation has settled, leaving cracks, sticking doors or a dip in the floor, we lift it back toward level and fill the gap beneath.

Concrete cutting
When you need a doorway through a wall, a trench for a pipe or a damaged section taken out, we saw-cut the concrete cleanly so the rest stays sound.
Why people hire us for their concrete
A walkthrough before we pour
I go over your job step by step before anything is poured, so you know what you're paying for and what to expect.
The person who quotes stays on
I come out and write every estimate myself, then stay in touch until the job's done, so you talk to the person who quoted it.
City steps lined up early
We sort out soils reports, inspections and other city steps at the start, so the work happens in the right order.
Base dug out and packed
We dig out and pack the ground your slab sits on, because a base that's only raked level settles and takes the concrete with it.
Plain talk about cracks and curing
We tell you up front about curing, hairline cracks and resealing, so nothing about your new concrete catches you off guard.
Our own crew, a tidy site
Our own crew does the work, with a lead hand running the site and keeping it calm and tidy while you live around it.

Tell us about the concrete job you have in mind
We'll reply within one business day to set up a visit, and I'll come look at the job myself. After that you'll get a written estimate, free and with no obligation, so you can decide in your own time.

Your concrete questions answered
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Santa Ana?
There's no fair number until I've seen the site, because driveway cost turns on size, how much old concrete has to be broken out and hauled off, and how much base work the ground needs. Thickness, steel and any color or stamping add to it. Your written estimate spells out each of those for your driveway.
Is it worth paying more for base prep under a concrete patio?
Yes, and if the budget is tight I'd trim the finish before the base. The subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, is hidden the day we pour, so it's the easy place to cut, but a patio poured on dirt that's only raked level tends to sink with that dirt. A plain finish on a solid base usually holds up better than a fancy one on a weak base.
How long until I can walk and drive on new concrete?
Usually a day or two before you walk on it and about a week before you park a car on it. That wait is curing, the slow hardening that keeps going for weeks after the pour, and loading a slab too soon can crack or mark it. I'll give you the timing for your slab when we wrap up.
Are you licensed and insured for concrete work in Santa Ana?
Yes, we're fully licensed and insured. As the licensed contractor, we can pull the permit when your job needs one and plan the work around the city's reviews and inspections. Santa Ana also requires every business working inside city limits to hold a city business license, so that's a fair thing to ask any contractor.
What happens on the day you pour concrete?
By pour day the base is packed, the forms are set and any steel is in place, so the crew can place and finish the concrete in one go. In hot weather we aim to start early, since a slab poured in the midday sun can dry too fast and end up with a weak, dusty top.
Do you guarantee your concrete work?
Yes, our promise is your satisfaction, guaranteed. That doesn't mean a slab won't show a crack, because some fine cracking is normal as concrete dries, and I'd rather you hear that from me at the estimate than find it out later. I'll also tell you whether your surface will need resealing down the road.
Will my new concrete driveway crack like the old one?
It may get a few fine cracks, but the aim is to keep them small and in lines we choose. We cut control joints, shallow grooves that give the slab a planned place to crack, early enough to get ahead of it, and we pitch the surface so water runs away from the house. Most bad cracking on old driveways traces back to a soft base, water underneath or joints cut late or skipped.
Do I need a permit for concrete work in Santa Ana?
It depends on the job, so it's worth checking with the city's Building Safety Division before work starts. The city requires a permit to build, alter, repair or demolish a building, and its list doesn't say outright whether a driveway or patio needs one. Retaining walls up to 4 feet, measured from the bottom of the footing, are exempt from a building permit unless they hold back extra load above them, and a 2022 city handout says retaining walls need Planning Division review.
A look at finished concrete
How a job goes with us
Call or send the form
Call us at (657) 643-0084 or send the form with a line or two about the job, like what you want built and roughly how big. We get back to every call and message within one business day, and we'll set a time for me to come out.
I come out and write the estimate
I come out myself to look at the site and hear what you want. I check the ground, where the water runs and what has to come out, because those decide how the job gets built. Then I send a written estimate. It's free, and there's no obligation to go ahead.
We schedule and do the work
Once you say yes, we set the schedule and handle any city steps, like a permit or an inspection, in the order the job needs them. Our own crew does the work, and I check in along the way, so you always have someone who knows your job to call with questions.
We walk the finished job
When the work is done, I walk the finished job with you. We go over curing, when it's ready for feet and cars, and what to expect later, like small cracks or resealing, so you know how to look after it. The site is cleaned up before we leave.
